Habitat: Patagonian Maras are only found in Argentina, from 28 to 50°S. They live in habitats with shrub cover, but they also inhabit overgrazed and barren soils in the Monte Desert biome. Maras prefer sandy and low shrub habitats. The Patagonian Mara is a relatively large rodent in the Mara Genus Dolichotis. They are also known as the Patagonian Cavy, Patagonian Hare, or Dillaby. Maras are herbivorous, a somewhat rabbit-like animal that is found in open and semi open habitats in Argentina. Maras are considered to be a near threatened species.
